Messineo Wins 2003 Nature Photographer Award
Riverwoods, IL - Len Messineo, a noted nature photographer and CACCA member, has added a significant new award to his collection.
His latest recognition, the 2003 Kohout Outstanding Nature Photographer Award, was recently presented by Pat Wadecki at the CACCA Banquet. The Kohout Award, given in the name and spirit of John and Kitty Kohout, recognizes nature photographers who also actively participate in the teaching of nature photography. In addition to award-winning photographs, Messineo has exhibited educational slide presentations to many photography clubs and other organizations from Door County, Wisconsin to Marco Island, Florida. Sharing not only technical advice but natural history in well prepared programs, this photographer clearly conveys an excitement and a passion for all aspects of nature.
His list of teaching credits takes him much farther geographically than when he leads a field trip for his fellow camera club members or speaks to CACCA clubs. He has taught nature photography workshops in several other states. His images have played to packed audiences in such places as Door County and numerous locations throughout Florida (with 15 programs already scheduled for this coming season). Each winter he single handedly (and voluntarily) plans and executes a nature photography exhibition and a nature photography lecture series in Florida. To these he invites famous nature photographers who join him in making local residents more aware of the wonders of nature and the artistry of nature photography. He also has had a photography advice column in the Marco Island Eagle, a weekly Florida newspaper.
Messineo specializes in botanicals, wildlife, and landscapes and offers five current nature slide programs.
